How ICT can Support the Building of Learning Communities.
The recent European “Memorandum on Lifelong Learning” constitutes a significant step in providing a view on the major changes that are affecting society at large and education and training systems in particular. This paper analyses in particular three aspects that are all mentioned in the Memorandum:
- how motivation to learn is generated and maintained in an adult audience;
- how ICT changes and increases the potential of distance education to contribute to lifelong learning;
- how ICT, by changing distance learning, can become a key tool for the establishment of learning communities among adults.
